WHAT TO DO

Just got engaged? Planning your wedding? Not sure where to start?
Here are some useful tips.

The engaged couple, both Slovak citizens, should submit their birth certificates and ID cards to the local Register Office. If you don’t have a common permanent address, simply pick one Register Office and go there together. Once you submit your documents, you will be required to fill in a marriage registration form, regardless of whether you plan a church or civil wedding. The Register Office will forward the signed form to the relevant church authority. If you want to get married in a Register Office in an area other than where one of you has a permanent address, the Register Office will accept all documents required for your marriage and will draw up a "delegation letter" making it possible for you to get married elsewhere.

If one of the engaged couple is a foreigner, that is not a Slovak citizen, it is necessary to submit several documents all of which need to

be translated by a certified translator. Country-specific information is available at the relevant Register Office.

If you are among those who find the whole arrangement process too complicated and time-consuming, or you simply can’t dedicate that

much time to it, we would be pleased to advise you and promptly do all paperwork. We will ensure the document authentication as well as

certified translators and interpreters for your wedding ceremony.
